Remaining 2020 VITA Sessions Cancelled

Due to the Coronavirus/COVID-19 pandemic, the University of Wyoming’s change to online-only classes for the remainder of the Spring 2020 school year, and the state-wide closure of public places issued by the office of Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon, the University of Wyoming College of Business and the United Way of Albany County have cancelled the remaining VITA tax preparation sessions for the 2020 Tax Season. At this time, there are no plans to reschedule any VITA sessions for the 2020 tax season.

Our student volunteers prepared hundreds of 2020 tax returns, with over $600,000 in refunds filed for Albany County taxpayers. We sincerely thank our volunteers for being a part of VITA.

I still need to file.

The IRS provides free tax preparation services through the Free File program. The IRS has extended the tax filing deadline to July 15. Any tax balances to be paid by April 15 have been extended to this new deadline.

I haven’t received my refund.

You can check the status of your tax return with the IRS “Where’s My Refund” utility.

You will need the following details from your tax return:

  • Taxpayer Filing status (Single/Married/Head of Household/Married filing separately)
  • Taxpayer Social Security Number
  • Exact refund amount

If you filed with us this year…

For our clients already served, if you have questions or concerns about your tax return, please email Paul Heimer or Amber Mercil or call our office at (307) 745-3264.
