Albany County

After the Thanksgiving holiday comes the Black Friday, Shop Small Saturday, and Cyber Monday madness. This prompted the #GivingTuesday movement, an opportunity to make a charitable donation in lieu of holiday spending. The #GivingTuesday movement is primarily a social media and online focus, encouraging donors to make a pledge to their favorite local non-profit organization.

This year, the United Way of Albany County is asking you to consider donating to us on this #GivingTuesday. As some of you may already know, we recently created a new program here at the United Way–our Emergency Fund. This fund is available to our 17 partnering agencies in addition to a new partnership with the Albany County School District #1. This Emergency Fund has already been utilized by Interfaith to help pay for rent and utilities for clients who are at-risk of losing their housing; it has been used by ACSD#1 to provide hot lunches for students who can’t afford them; it has been used to purchase a new wheelchair for a child at Head Start. Our Emergency Fund is here to give our neighbors that extra help they need when unexpected situations arise.

We are so thrilled to share that we have a Matching Donor this year for #GivingTuesday! Thank you to the very generous Anne Alexander, who has agreed to match up to $2,000! We are confident that our community of Laramie can help us reach our goal of $2,000 this year. This will supply our Emergency Fund with a solid foundation and your donation will go towards someone in need. That is just 100 people in our community making a $20 donation! WE CAN DO IT!
